Who I am

Born in Boston, grew up in Singapore, studying Computer Science at NUS.

I'm Zhang Li Kevin. I moved to Singapore from Boston when I was one. Before NUS I was at Raffles Institution, where I finished my A-levels with distinctions in every subject.

In CS, the three areas I care most about are databases, software engineering and AI/ML. Databases because so much of what I've built rests on one, like the prerequisite graph behind UniPlans. Software engineering because I like building things properly, which is also what I teach as a CS2103T tutor. And AI/ML because it's where a lot of the most interesting work is happening, from the characters in Historical Adventures to my Reddit forecasting project.

I build things because it's fun. Fred Brooks put it best in The Mythical Man-Month: there's "the sheer joy of making things", and "the pleasure of making things that are useful to other people." Those two are why I made ClipAsk, UniPlans and this site.
