Rebuilt a volunteer management system end to end as a software engineering intern at CVWO, the summer after Year 1.

I spent my first few weeks on CVWO's Case Management System, which is in use at Children's Aid Society and Haven Counselling Centre. For the second half I took ownership of turning GIC's Sparks & Smiles programme application into a general-purpose volunteer management system, for A Good Space's long-term use. The original was built around a school, with cohorts, students, school admins and external organisations, so I redesigned and reimplemented it across the backend and frontend, working closely with the team lead on the architecture.

I built attendance tracking and feedback submission from scratch on my own: the PostgreSQL schemas, the GORM models and APIs, the Redux state and the React components. Over the summer I delivered more than 30 features and fixes.

Sadly, A Good Space decided not to go ahead with the system in the end, so it never went into use. After a summer of shaping it around what they needed, it was a disappointing way for it to finish.
