Two weeks in Yunnan with Yuchen, riding 400 km from Dali up to Shangri-La.

A train from Kunming got us to Dali, and from there it was the bikes, hostel to hostel: north through Lijiang, a day at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, then a long, fast descent into Tiger Leaping Gorge, the best stretch of the trip. What goes down must come up: the climb from there to Shangri-La, past 3,000 m, was by far the hardest part, and the altitude made sure we felt it. We finished with a bus up to Deqin to see Meili Snow Mountain.
